About Hoci Iâ Armor

Hoci Iâ Armor was born from the stands, the sidelines, and the skate-sharpening benches of countless rinks. Founded by two hockey moms with deep Welsh roots and an unshakable love for sports, our brand was built with one goal in mind: keep every player safe—without sacrificing speed, comfort, or confidence.

One of us is a certified personal trainer. The other, a lifelong educator. Both of us are relentless perfectionists. And together, we’ve dedicated our lives not just to keeping our own kids protected on the ice, but to protecting thousands of athletes—from first-time skaters to seasoned competitors. Because accidents don’t care about age, experience, or skill level—and every player deserves to feel confident and secure.

01 What is cut-resistant hockey gear?

Cut-resistant hockey gear is designed to help protect players from skate blade injuries, especially in high-risk areas like the neck, collarbone, and forearms. Hoci Iâ Armor gear uses ANSI or CE-certified materials like Aramid fiber and HPPE to help reduce the risk of lacerations during play.

02 What materials are used in Hoci Iâ Armor products?

Our cut-resistant gear is made with high-performance materials including 100% Aramid fiber (used in our neck guards) and HPPE (High-Performance Polyethylene) for our sleeves. These materials are lightweight, durable, and rated for high levels of cut protection.

03 What is the difference between ANSI and CE ratings?

ANSI and CE are both safety certification standards. ANSI is the American standard, while CE is European. Our neck guards are ANSI Cut Level 4, and sleeves are CE Cut Level 5, meaning they meet some of the highest levels of blade resistance in their class.

04 Is Hoci Iâ Armor gear required by any leagues?

As of August 1, 2024, both USA Hockey and NEPSAC require all players under 18, including on-ice officials, to wear neck laceration protection during games and practices - they also encourage the use of cut-resistant sleeves and undergarments.

This mandate reflects a growing commitment across youth and prep hockey to prioritize player safety in response to recent incidents and evolving standards.

While not all leagues mandate cut-resistant gear, many are moving toward stronger safety requirements—especially for neck protection.

Our products meet or exceed performance standards and are suitable for use in leagues that follow updated safety guidelines.

05 Who should wear cut-resistant gear?

We recommend cut-resistant gear for all players, from youth leagues to professionals. Injuries from skate blades can happen at any level, and protective gear like ours adds a critical layer of safety.

06 How do I choose the right size sleeve?

To find the correct sleeve length, measure from your wrist to the middle of your upper arm. Hoci Iâ Armor sleeves are available in 8” and 10” lengths, offering a snug and ergonomic fit for maximum protection and mobility.

07 Is the neck guard comfortable to wear under gear?

Absolutely. The neck guard is crafted with moisture-wicking, antimicrobial fabrics that provide odor control and a lightweight fit, designed to be worn comfortably under standard hockey equipment.
